- 🗓 60-Day Meeting Notice Rule:
All city and board meetings must be posted online 60 days in advance, except in true emergencies approved by the Mayor’s Office.
- 🗳 Citizen Representation Boards:
Require at least 3 Providence voters, ideally from outside the affected district, to serve on public boards involving non-city staff.
- 🤝 Volunteer Citizen Registry:
Create a database of residents (retirees, students, citizens with free time) who want to participate in meetings or serve on committees.
- ⛔ Service Limitations:
- No citizen can serve on two boards simultaneously — at city, state, or other municipal levels.
- After serving, a citizen must wait 365 days from becoming fully inactive on all boards before being eligible for another appointment.
- ⚖️ Conflict-of-Issue Screening:
Each appointee must pass a basic review to prevent personal, financial, or political conflicts of interest.
- 💬 Empowering Citizens:
These policies ensure transparency, fairness, and true community involvement — putting citizens back in the center of local government.
